Martin Forster’s minimalist abstract works are characterised by faceted patterned grids. Working in coloured pencils on paper in landscape format, his compositions are mapped out methodically by drawing squares in rows to create a grid structure, assigning a number to each and colouring. His devotion to his process has remained consistent throughout his practice. The colour palette of each work relates directly to his subject, which focuses on consumables such as the colour of particular soft drinks, ice creams, sweets, tea and their packaging and labels.
