Fiona Longhurst (b 1950, Channel Islands) is an established artist whose work is characterised by a sensitive use of colour and intricate pattern making. The imagery, often layered with text, is whimsical while maintaining a harmonious balance of rich density and quiet space. Her work can be likened to that of Miro and ‘automatic drawing’, a style developed by the surrealists as a means of expressing the subconscious where the hand moves freely across the paper. Longhurst has worked at Arts Project Australia since 1991 and presented her first solo exhibition in 2019. She has been included in numerous group exhibitions in Australia, USA and Belgium and her work is held in private collections throughout Australia.See more by Fiona Longhurst
