The Horse at Darren Knight Gallery

Congratulations to Alan Constable, Brigid Hanrahan, Adrian Lazzaro and Anne Lynch for being selected for an upcoming exhibition, tentatively titled The Horse at Darren Knight Gallery in Sydney. The exhibition opens on Saturday 25 August from 4-6pm and runs until 22 September 2018.

Horses has been curated by celebrated Australian contemporary artist Noel McKenna, and features equestrian themed works.

As a child Noel McKenna had minimal exposure to art. It wasn’t until he started university that he began to look at paintings, the result of one of his architecture lecturers pointing him in that direction. Having had a lifelong love of horses it was a natural subject for his first drawings and one that has endured in his art practice.

Having heard or read somewhere that horses are the most difficult things to draw, Noel invited a group of artists he admires to make a work on paper no larger than A4, on the premise that when artists attempt something for the first time, their approach is fresh and the results unique.

The exhibition includes works by Cinean Alexandru, Connie Anthes, Robin Astley, Wendy Bornholdt, Joanna Braithwaite, Mitch Cairns, Jon Campbell, Tom Carment, Genevieve Carroll, Minyoung Choi, Anthony Clare, Janis Clarke, Alan Constable, Rod Denson, Jean-Phillipe Dordolo, Christopher Earley, Martin Edge, Sarah Edmondson, Maria Farrar, Joe Furlonger, Rebecca Gallo, David Godbold, Agatha Gothe-Snape, Matlok Griffiths, Brigid Hanrahan, Michael Harrison, Janet Haslett, Simon Hewson, Jonathan Hunter, Adrian Lazzaro, Anne Lynch, Travis MacDonald, Euan MacLeod, Darren McDonald, Rob McHaffie, Noel McKenna, Margaret McKenna, Tess E McKenzie, Jennifer Mills, Stephen Mok, James Morrison, Bill Moseley, Pia Murphy, Brendan O’Brien, Greg O’Brien, Mairead O’hEocha, Brian Ormond, Alison Pilkington, Louise Pulling, Leslie Rice, Jimmy Rix, Ian Smith, Kate Smith, Brendan Smith, Tyza Stewart, Lucy Turnbull, Jake Walker, Anne Wallace, Louise Weaver, Bradd Westmoreland, Claudia White, Eloise White, Sandra Winkworth, Tori Wranes & Noel McKenna and Simon Yates & Vanessa Berry.
